I was just pa-roozing one of my favorite blogs Bash, please and I felt compelled to point out how outrageously beautiful EVERYTHING is these days.  I mean, it’s like retro meets vintage chic with a modern twist everywhere.  Maybe it’s the season or maybe designers are finally smarting up and not spewing nasty animal prints and mixing red and black together for outfits ( a velour track suit just popped into my mind, ugh cripes).  Girls are dressing like ladies again (still waiting for the boys to shape up!)  and people are taking pride in themselves and their events.  It’s a very beautiful time, and I hope it never ever ends.

This is a lot to read and I am well aware I have your attention for maybe a minute & a 1/2 but I am including this article to showcase how my photography/photoshop work has helped catch the eye of Home Accents Today Magazine for Decorative Arts!

Decorative Arts is honored for excellence by Home Accents Today magazine

May 16, 2012, Greensboro, N.C. – Vero Beach retailer Decorative Arts has been named one of Home Accents Today’s 50 Retail Stars for 2012 by editors of the premier trade magazine for the home accents industry. Founded in 2001, the store is located at 1923 Old Dixie Highway and is owned by Debrah Daly.

The businesses selected for the magazine’s Retail Stars list have demonstrated that they operate successfully in their marketing areas, exhibit strength in merchandising, display and/or advertising, and have a positive presence in their local communities.

“There has never been a tougher time to be an independent retailer, with ongoing competition from chain stores, the increasingly significant role of online retail and the difficult economic climate,” said Jenny Heinzen York, editor in chief, Home Accents Today. “The 2012 Retail Stars have taken on these challenges with a combination of clever entrepreneurship, innovation, merchandising, customer service and marketing. We are delighted to recognize these talented merchants, and, as always, encourage everyone to support their own local businesses.”

Home Accents Today editors focused on independent and family-run retailers, specifically those considered specialty, home accent or home furnishings stores. Members of the industry were invited to suggest stores and retailers were encouraged to submit information describing their businesses. The list, now in its eighth year, was compiled and narrowed down by research analysts and editors of the publication. A business may be named to the list only one time, resulting in 50 first-time honorees each year.

“Decorative Arts is a great name for this store,” said Retail Editor Susan Dickenson. “Their displays and use of color are really eye-catching, and it looks like someone on staff is a great photographer – a real asset for any retailer involved in social media. The success they’re having with their virtual styling program is also impressive.”

The 50 Retail Stars list, sponsored by AmericasMart Atlanta, is published in the May 2012 issue of Home Accents Today. The 25-year-old publication, based in Greensboro, N.C., is owned by Sandow Media.

on a mission

I’m on a design journey so I’m being asked to make things for my friends  – save the dates, posters, cards, etc. Each one is a learning experience which is fun since I love what I do so much – learning is a great, progressive kinda thang and far more productive than sitting in a bean bag eating cheetos (even though that sounds delightful too).

It’s such a process to figure out your worth but this article I read from my favorite blogger helped me organize my thoughts this morning!  With that being said I am so lucky to be currently working with people that know I’m in school and know I’m worth it!  And then I found this sweet poster (which I bought- it was $2.50!  whatttt! cool. ) I have a plan for all my prints so I can’t wait to show you once they all come in!
