regal in denim

In pinterest project on August 17, 2012 at 8:42 am

I entered a contest for anthropologie & it involved pinning a bunch of neat jean outfits.  There is no outfit quite better than a good pair of jeans and a crisp white shirt.   Can I get an amen?

speaking of are you following my pins? I want to go to a pinterest party where we all sit and drink coffee and pin in silence.

FREE DOWNLOAD!  This, in case you don’t know, is a chorus from an amazing song found right here.  I saw it somewhere else and I just decided to make it quickly because it was so inspiring.  It’s a 12 x 16 and it’s set for print so all you have to do is save it to your computer and go to staples or somewhere you can get it digitally printed to fit to size!  or just save it to your computer!  It’s yours to do with what you wish.

natural diuretic

In food ideas, pinterest project on June 6, 2012 at 12:07 pm

I was inquiring about other diuretics that could help me maintain my somewhat girlish figure since I am in a wedding this coming Saturday and my friend  Leslie suggested her favorite soup!   It’s filled to the brim with tasty veggies and tilapia!  I was telling her how much diurex pills makes me feel like a dying water buffalo and I needed  a better and healthier solution!  Ya know, one that doesn’t suck the life out of you.  SO!  for the next 3 days this is what I will be eating for breakfast and lunch… Thanks Les!

recipe||

1. Boil about 4 cups of water and with lots of celery and celery leaves (you can use the inside pieces of the celery stalk – the ones that are skinnier and not as crispy – I always seem to have these left over), little bit of diced onion, 1/2 of a tomato (optional), fresh garlic (or garlic powder), small chunk of ginger root (or dash of ginger powder) and favorite herbs (I use parsley). Cook until celery is soft – the water should reduce to about half.
2. Add in 2-3 tbsp apple cider vinegar (BRAGGS brand – can get at health food store for like 5$), continue cooking on low.
3. Add in tilapia – I put in about 3 servings – so about 20 oz raw.
4. Simmer until fish is done. Put in bowl – refrigerate and it is best eaten the next two days with some CRYSTAL hot sauce.

 My first attempt to quiet my excitement for all things chalk!  That metallic gold paint was the bomb.  I mean I was spray painting things that shouldn’t have been spray painted and I had to reign myself in before I turned myself into one of those metallic robot people in city streets.   The tray was from a garage sale and looked like garbage (my brothers are probably shaking their heads knowing I’m turning into my Mother). I was happy to make it look all pretty again, like it deserves.  Chalkboard paint over at the hobby lobby – it’s not the best paint job but I’ll give it to my Mom because Moms like everything you do, well… to an extent.

spinach burgers/eggs ||pin proj 9

In food ideas, pinterest project on June 2, 2012 at 6:50 pm

I’m on a huge spinach kick so making these spinach burgers was something i was really looking forward to except this is how they turned out.

I think, well I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure it was the George that blew my operation.  My awkward mind was all… “burgers go on a grill not a skillet” and didn’t take into account how fragile these baby greens were.  Since we’re on the up & up here – the plus side was that I had delightful scrambled spinach & eggs instead.  Thumbs up (way up if you make them right!)

om nom nom.  Zat was a treat if I’ve ever had one.  I was going through my pinterest recipe board to try to start-up the ole’ project and found this grilled shrimp and avocado salad.  Problem was, it’s merely a picture on FlickR.  Yeah I was all Like “what the Hecker-doodle am I supposed to do with a picture?”  So here’s what I did using my instincts and asking my brother how I make that circular shape – the answer was so simple I’m embarrassed I had to ask.

disclaimer: I was using no real measuring techniques just trying to replicate what I saw

 || sautéed the shrimp in olive oil & Chef Paul Prudhomme’s blackened fish magic

|| cut up 1 avocado & chopped 1 tomato

|| smashed some of the avocado to use as a concatention, if you will

|| put the avocado and tomatoes  in a measuring cup, pat down and then carefully flip over

||made a light dressing: minced garlic,  olive oil, agave syrup, salt & peppa,  and squeezed half a lemon in it

In food ideas, pinterest project, Waldo's Garden, work on May 22, 2012 at 5:00 pm

I’m so in the mood to go gung-ho on an awesome project.  I’m working on my own project for a little “thank you  box of favorites” for choosing Waldo’s Secret Garden as an event venue because isn’t it just really nice to be appreciated? Duh.  I’m slowly but surely accumulating little things so bear with me until I get the sample box done.

Pinterest Project update || it’s on hold for a week or so! ( I can hear your teeth grinding and fist pounding amelia)

DIY orange candle || project 6

In pinterest project on May 18, 2012 at 1:08 pm

I followed all directions and that wick did not light.  I tried this twice because I truly wanted it to work.  I’m not sure what this woman did – maybe she snuck in lighter fluid – who knows.  Anyway, splurge on candles today!  I’m a fan of Low Country Luxe candles!  They’ve got that lovely southern scent down to an art!

p.s. im totes aware i used a grapefruit & not an orange.
