new prints

In i made this, ideas on January 16, 2014 at 4:29 pm

A couple of my favorite new or restored prints that have recently been placed in a couple of different stores in Vero Beach!  My entire line of citrus prints have been placed in the new Countryside Citrus beach shop which I am so excited about!   Chelsea’s Market on Cardinal, Decorative Arts, and LUBA  are also carrying various prints which can be found on my ETSY site!

meet katie

In ideas on September 19, 2013 at 10:46 am

I am so lucky to be surrounded by such talent in Orlando!  Yesterday Katie and I went for a drive and took amazing photos for her company Knees on Leaves!  Katie’s micro ecosystems have, in my opinion, revolutionized earthy jewels and brought our necks closer to nature.  A passion for Mid Century Design inspired Katie to create one of a kind terrarium necklaces.  Her inspiration stems from nature, all things beautiful as well as chaotic and imperfect!  Katie’s products have been featured all over the web (here & here) , sold all over the world, and has accumulated over 7,000 followers on instagram.   Hop over to her website and getcha self somethin’ great!

wise words of breanna rose

In ideas on September 11, 2013 at 1:13 pm

This is all from a blogger I follow Breanna Rose

After receiving several emails inquiring about blogging platforms, I thought I would create a post for bloggers discussing the subject. While I highly suggest hiring a designer to create your own custom design, I realize that isn’t always in everyone’s budget from the get go, so I’m writing this from the perspective of template usage. The first thing you will need to do is decide which service you’d like to use for publishing. While there are many out there, the two that I always recommend are SquareSpace and WordPress ( self-hosted ). Their ease of use and support are what make them winners in my book, but I’ll dive more into them both below.

While I personally use WordPress, let’s start with SquareSpace ( SS ). Because if I hadn’t already paid for 2 years of hosting, I think I would switch over to SS sooner than later. You see, the thing that has always captured my attention with SS is their beautiful user interface. It’s much easier on the eyes and as a designer, I’ve definitely taken notice. Plus, they have several meticulously well designed templates that you can choose from and customize ( drag + drop style ), all of which do not require any HTML/CSS knowledge. A definite plus for beginners! Ultimately, you would receive a free domain name, an easily editable template, and a very secure website. It’s an all inclusive package that will leave you worry free.

Insta-favorites

In ideas on May 22, 2013 at 3:17 pm

I have a few favorite Instagrams that I LOVE when they post photos.  I look forward to their daily posts because they are just so darn beautiful and inspiring!  I wanted to share a few people with you … urbanic paper boutique, bonnie Tsang, DesignLoveFest, and Knees on leaves.  Knees on Leaves is a new biz created by Vero’s own, Katie O’ Dare, and quote me on this one – it’s going to take off so contact her while you can for a terrarium (I already did!)

Done with yet another semester at UCF!  Now I relax, focus on my personal work, and take the beach line home  to Vero before summer school starts!

Tonight is the night!

In ideas on April 27, 2013 at 10:19 pm

Tonight is the last wedding for 6 months at Waldo’s Secret Garden (photos to come)!  As I mentioned we are mainly an outside venue and it is hot as hell in Florida for the next 6 months – so for our sake and your sake we shut it down to rest and renovate for now.  The love we’ve received from everybody has been amazing and it reminds us that the spirit of the land is still very much alive and will be forever and a day!

genius

I have a friend I met in school , Caitlin, and she helps me alllllllll the time.  I mean I go over to her house nearly in tears with school projects and we figure them out and she teaches me everything she knows about coding!  It’s a great help because I consider myself a designer, not necessarily a person wild about web design.  She just helped me with a huge issue with a recent project by googling a code generator and this is what she said when she was done… Life is simple and I always forget!

I was just browsing reddit ( do you ever go on reddit? ) I found out about it all of 8 months ago and now it’s all I read all day!  It was a good change up to my perezhilton obsession.  Anywho, I found a post by Kyle Thompson and had to share these amazing photos that he has manipulated!  Talk about a master at his trade!  See more here.

This color makes my heart skip a beat and I’ll be stocking my closet  with lots & lots of pink this spring! Also, how beautiful are those roses?  Here’s a tutorial on how to get them looking all dapper and blossoming!
