In Ain't my art, fun on November 15, 2012 at 6:02 pm

I sent my Brother some mail today.  Pictures of me.  I know, I know – I’m too sweet.  This stationary is my all time favorite!  I love sending it out because it’s like a little piece of artwork.

Jonathan Adler

BE STILL MY HEART.  That’s how I feel when I see certain things from one of my favorite designers, Jonathan Adler.  I love how funky he is and his story is a neat one too – the ole “teachers told him his art was garbage” story.  He really showed them!  How about that Mommy Dearest pillow?  That line is a running joke in my family!

I am loving these banners by Jimmy Marble!  Designlovefest just did a little blurb about them and now I have an overwhelming urge to whip on the ole credit card.

Exposed brick is just the cat’s meow.  Here’s a few extra shots from the Decorative Arts Apparel Shoot to show ya!  Just a few candid ones I grabbed while everyone was  being themselves!

nom noms

Recipe I found over at   Merry Mishap  and it’s kind of making me drool.  Om nom nom!

you’ll need:

600 g / 20 oz frozen chopped spinach
1 leek
1 tsp salt
1 pinch black pepper
2 pinches ground nutmeg
1 400-500 g / 14-18 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 1/2 cups white cheese sauce (see recipe below)
12 no-boil lasagna sheets
75 g / 3 oz feta cheese

Set oven to 225 C / 425 F. Thaw spinach in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-high heat. Halve, rinse and finely slice the leek. Add the leek to the thawed spinach. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Add crushed tomatoes. Set aside. Prepare cheese sauce.

Cheese Sauce

2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp flour
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup / 4 oz shredded Swiss cheese (or cheese of preference…gruyere, cheddar…)
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp salt
pinch of pepper

Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat; whisk in flour until smooth. Cook 1 minute, whisking constantly. Gradually whisk in milk; cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Whisk in Swiss and Parmesan cheeses, salt, and red pepper, whisking until cheeses are melted and sauce is smooth.

Layer your lasagna: begin with tomato/spinach mixture, then cheese sauce, then pasta. End with cheese sauce. Top with crumbled feta. Bake in middle rack of oven for 20-25 minutes or until pasta is not firm inside. Let stand for 10 minutes. Serve with a green salad. Enjoy!

Ella’s room.  Let’s face it – it’s easy to get cheesy when kid’s rooms are involved.  It took me a veryyyyy long time to rid my room of the hundreds of beanie babies, snow globes,  J.T.T.  posters, and all that junk. Ah yikes!   But this little girl’s room – pretty amazing!

Class was cancelled today and it feels pretty darn great.  No work / no school !  Footloose and fancy free (kinda). My entire day will devoted to all my backed-up freelance work!

Accessorizing for any occasion! I’m digging this turban.  Maybe by summer I will have the guts to pull it off.
