I finally got to use my new camera over the break! We had a photo shoot for some new lines that came into Decorative Arts Apparel so we found an amazing piece of property owned by Jann Jerkins and her husbamd! It was so beautiful and sprinkle of great expectations ambiance which was such a dreamboat! We had champagne and a grand time! The girls were so beautiful! It was just an overall great day!

I was researching online and came across this articleon readership and it inspired me write a little blog on mistakes! I make them often and it’s embarrassing but I know I will continue to make them throughout my career! My mind is racing all day long between freelance, school and Waldo’s Secret Garden! I wish I could say I stop and concentrate on one project but I usually have 20 tabs open multi-tasking like a mad man! Anyways, there’s a specific publication in Vero Beach that I had issues with for months maybe even a full year (yikes)! I’m talking like I got e-mails multiple times a day “ Charlotte this is still wrong”, ” Charlotte you’re not doing it right” Charlotte Charlotte Charlotte! ha! My fault the whole time I was saving a file wrong but finally about two months ago it occurred to me that I needed to speak to the graphic designer on their team because from what I knew I was doing everything right on my end. Situation is fixed now, they just needed a different file type (simple!) but still when I think back on it I cringe! I was about to give up doing the AD just on the mere fact that I was worried these people thought I had flutter nutter for brains!
lesson learned: Speak with their designer(s) first and make sure you understand their requirements before you start creating!
I have a friend I met in school , Caitlin, and she helps me alllllllll the time. I mean I go over to her house nearly in tears with school projects and we figure them out and she teaches me everything she knows about coding! It’s a great help because I consider myself a designer, not necessarily a person wild about web design. She just helped me with a huge issue with a recent project by googling a code generator and this is what she said when she was done… Life is simple and I always forget!
Ya know that rap song that’s all “I’m gettin’ paperrrrrrrr” and they’re shoveling out hundred dollar bills in the video? Well, that’s like me except I’m actually just getting really dandy print paper from interning that desperately needs to get up off my floor and frame itself. Here’s the non offensive version of the song.
THEN there’s this gem of a website that makes me laugh “stuff white people like” and i found myself guilty of #105 (among many others)
yepp, that’s right – unpaid internships… in my defense, most people I interviewed with in my field were unwilling to pay students for some odd reason but i chose the one I knew I’d enjoy the most and learn the most from!
This was such a swanky time. I get so jealous for some reason when I see these types of pictures BUT they also give me a tiny boost of happiness – which I need lately! I feel like I’ve been in such a design slump. Maybe its school ands seeing such amazing things being created at Mama’s Sauce that makes me feel like I have no idea what I’m doing – hmm thought bubbles that I really hope come to a screeching halt soon. Good vibes welcomed…
First day at the internship at mama’s sauce & it was everything I thought it would be. A lot of people in one room with paper envy! There’s some serious talent in there!
Remember when i posted about wanting to own a letterpress one day? It was right here then i found a letterpress in Winter Park. Literally I just tweeted at them “Hey got any internships?” that simple. Got an interview and now I’ve got a summer internship at a letterpress. Levitating. Getting behind the scenes of the printing aspect of the design world was a goal of mine – success! Watch this video below i found on their blog - I mean, swoooooon!
I found a couple really neat things I wanted to share! Anybody else love instagram? instagram = magnets over at stickygram. Ow!
Cinemagr.am was how I made that jellyfish move in my DIY post. It turns your still recordings into tiny movements!
My final and most exciting is the letterpress company I found in Orlando called Mama’s Sauce! I’m looking forward to working with them … they seem amazingly amazing. Too much amazing?
Hi! thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm a web design student at the moment moonlighting as a graphic designer. I'm blogging as fast as I'm learning things. I post pictures i like, new tricks I learn, photography and all that other jazz. I try to create most of my own posts and I will label them if the design was by me... although sometimes others inspire me too - but don't fret! I give credit where credit is due and if you use something from my design bubble here - I hope you do too.
